Delivering thoughtful gifts from Jersey... to the UK...?

We launched almost two years ago, and in that time we’ve always said that we would focus on Jersey first and foremost. This has not changed! We were founded in, and are based in Jersey, to provide a gifting service that we couldn’t find on island. We’re proud to work with small local businesses as well as brands such as Spacemasks, Elizabeth Scarlett and Seven Seventeen that are based in the UK.

But we do also listen to you, our customer… and you’ve been asking for UK delivery as long as we’ve been around. And so, we’re going for it. Trialling UK delivery for a month… and let’s see how it goes!

The pricing structure is the first tricky bit. We don’t make money from our postage fees, the £1.99 flat rate we charge across Jersey doesn’t cover the full cost of postage and packaging (some of our stuff is heavier than the 500g limit that the £1.99 covers), but we don’t feel like you should pay extra just because something you buy weighs more (alas, the Post Office does not feel the same!).

We have set the pricing at £6 per parcel regardless of weight, and we will be adding the extra security of using a signed for service. Once it’s off island, we have a lot less control, and we want to make sure we can tell you where your parcel is (hopefully in the hands of the recipient speedily). We’ll review this pricing weekly, and if it’s too much, bring it down. We’ll also be refunding any significant overages in the postage payment.

And then there is VAT. Because our website is designed in, and for Jersey, we don’t have an option to add VAT on one shipping option (I don’t think… I am looking into it!). For this reason, alongside the postage charge, we’ve added a £2.50 charge per item to cover the VAT. This is based on a care package (our best seller), at £21, which incurs £2.10 VAT and our Jersey Care Package, which are the most popular requests to send back home.

If you build your own care package though, lots of small items will mean you are overcharged on VAT. We will refund ANY overages on VAT paid, but absorb extras.

It’s not a perfect system yet, it’s still just a trial, but we promise you won’t be out of pocket whilst we tweak the charges to make them work.
