Delivering in Jersey

When I first started Harriet and Rose I was (and remain) all about Jersey. Bringing new brands to the island, offering next day and same day delivery… working with local artisans and creators to make my business the best it could be. I always optimised by blog post with mentioning Jersey delivery more times than was strictly necessary (SEO… my favourite thing in the world). And then Covid happened.

Whilst many of my orders came from within the island, there was a sudden growth area: orders from abroad. Delivering in Jersey of course (it’s all I do), but orders from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Germany, Iceland, Denmark and - perhaps more predictably - the UK started to creep up and up and up. Turns out, my attempts to optimise my place in Google searches were working. People from outside Jersey were finding Harriet and Rose and realising that they could send gifts to a loved one in the island even if they weren’t here. They were also realising that Harriet and Rose could send things last minute, so that if they had forgotten and important date, we could solve their last minute gifting problems from THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD.

Yup, Harriet and Rose, founded in Jersey, for Jersey, but adept at solving your Jersey gifting delivery dilemmas worldwide.

So why am I writing about this now? Well I want to get some more keywords into the algorithim. I want people to search Christmas gifts delivered to Jersey and for Harriet and Rose to come up. I want people to search thoughtful gifts in Jersey and Harriet and Rose to come up. I want to become the international go to for Jersey gifts. And I’m not afraid to blog about it.

One of the hardest things about having a business, is getting its name out there. I put my name on the brand, so I have to know that every thing I do for the business reflects on me. I am so proud of the gifting website that I’ve developed. I know that it’s doing what I set out for it today (which is to make thoughtful gifting in Jersey as simple and easy as possible). But it doesn’t always mean it’s easy. But what I am incredibly proud of is that in this ridiculous year, my business has been able to plug a gap. It’s meant that people from all over the world have been able to send gifts to their loved ones in Jersey. Thoughtful, ethical gifts. It’s meant that even though planned trips to visit family (both in Jersey and further afield) may not have been possible, sending love through the post has been.

So yes, whilst I was founded in Jersey, for Jersey, with the plan to enable thoughtful gifting in our beautiful island in the Channel, what I’ve realised is that I’m not just a business for Jersey. I’m a business for everywhere that enables people to send gifts to a loved one - in Jersey. And if you’ve got your eye on something, and you’re hoping someone might buy it for you, remember that they don’t HAVE to live in Jersey… so feel free to share the website with friends and family in the UK and further afield! And ensure that sending gifts to people living in Jersey, is as simple as buying them here.
