We have news. Big news. Huge. Massive.

We’re opening a shop.

Yes, that’s right, Harriet and Rose, the online-only gifting website founded in Jersey in 2019 is moving to bricks and mortar, and therefore no longer online-only. We’re going to the High Street… the very busy central High Street of St Helier. You’ll soon find us at 71 King Street.

We’re still a little bit in shock ourselves actually.

This is not a blog post I thought that I’d be writing this time last year. In fact, at one point during Lockdown #1 I was wondering whether I would be allowed to continue to trade given the distancing/essential worker situation. I was, I started using Jersey Post. I wore gloves, and antibac wiped the postal machine and chip and pin every single time I used it, and I kept on trading. Truth be told, it helped me find Harriet and Rose’s online niche: helping you in, and off Jersey, send thoughtful gifts in Jersey. That had always been the plan of course, but let’s just say a global pandemic has changed customer shopping habits. It’s also really changed where people shop, and I’m genuinely humbled by how many have chosen to shop with Harriet and Rose.

In the autumn I founded The Small Business Pop Up, which we held in Liberty Wharf, and within a week I was starting to look for premises. I found one pre-Christmas, but Christmas being Christmas in retail, I didn’t feel that I could commit until the New Year. You snooze, you lose, but it’s funny how things go, and how when the timing doesn’t work out on one place something bigger, better, more central, but yes slightly more terrifying in terms of rents comes along and just feels right.

And of course, in true Harriet and Rose style, we’re going big. Two floors big. The ground floor will be the Harriet and Rose shop (much, much more on this later, and I’ll be doing some IGTV updates of the renovations and fit out every week), but the first floor will lead to the Harriet and Rose Small Business Studio… a huge, beautiful, light-filled room to be used and hired for workshops, pop ups, and social and corporate events (also much more to follow!). It’ll launch after the shop as I’ve got substantial planning to do, but things have just got bigger, better, and even easier to get to.

The Small Business Pop Up, Social, and Mentoring will all fall under the Harriet and Rose Small Business Studio. I’m also ridiculously happy to be sharing the building with some other creatives on the second floor - but that’s their big reveal, not mine, so listen out for that.

There is work to be done! Decoratively mostly, but I’m sure some other stuff will come up, so we won’t be throwing open our doors until at least late late June. But when we do, we know you’re going to love it. Hopefully as much as we do.

And the most excellent news is that as soon as renovations start, our town collection will be back.

So come and say hi! At 71 King Street, St Helier. Eeeeeeeeeeek!
