Forgetting to send a gift... we've all been there

There are two types of people in this world… the organised gift givers, and the disorganised ones. I - believe it or not (and the irony is not lost on me) - fall firmly into the latter. Which is actually one of the reasons why I founded Harriet and Rose. See I’m good at finding gifts, I’m thoughtful, think about the person (except when it’s for my husband, when invariably I buy him something that actually I want for the house or garden but can’t justify), but I almost always forget until the day or the day before.

I’m originally from the UK, and whilst I am now completely settled in Jersey, when I first moved here, I realised that I needed to start planning gifts well (well) in advance. I will admit, I struggled to adjust from ordering from ASOS at 10pm on a whim, for it to arrive the next day. I sent nearly all of it back, as anyone who orders clothing at 10pm of an evening will often do, but the adjustment to deliveries taking their time… well that was a shock.

Our first Christmas here was an eye-opener. Whilst we did buy some items in person in Jersey supporting all the lovely local businesses and toy sellers, some of the very specific (because the then seven and nine year olds were VERY specific) that we had bought online, arrived in January. This was in part our fault, for not ordering in November, but as a disorganised gifter, I’d never had island life to contend with before… and that is pretty much where the seed of Harriet and Rose as an idea came from.

Gifting is hard. I mean, it’s not. It’s easy to give someone something, but GOOD gifting is REALLY hard. And Harriet and Rose wants to make it as easy as possible for you, without the added fear that it won’t arrive on time. We have an array of postage options, including same day, next day and Saturday delivery. Town collection will be back at the end of May (which is free of course), and we also offer standard island wide delivery which takes 2-3 working days.

If you don’t live in Jersey, but know someone that does, then you will know the frustration of choosing a gift, getting it wrapped, filling out the extra forms for customs, posting it, and it STILL not arriving on time, even though you fall very much into the organised gift giver camp. Alternatively, you may - like me - be a disorganised gift giver, in which case, there’s no chance of posting something here in time. And that’s where Harriet and Rose can help.

Whether you live in Australia, America; Canada or the UK; New Zealand or Dubai; Singapore or France… wherever in the world you live, you may still know and love someone here in Jersey that you want to send a thoughtful gift to, and Harriet and Rose are here for that!

You can order any time of day (or night… though that might be your day time!), and we’ll get it all sorted for you. We have various gift wrapping options, but all our orders are sent out in tissue paper, and we’ll pop in a gift tag as part of that packaging (you can leave a note at check out).

Sending gifts, whether they be care packages, dressing gowns, gift hampers or housewarming gifts, is easy, reliable, and guaranteed to get to the recipient. With our Jersey made ceramics, candles, and jewellery, you can also support small and local Jersey businesses when you shop with Harriet and Rose.

So whether you are a disorganised gifter panicking about needing a present delivered in Jersey today, or are reading this a month before you need it, Harriet and Rose is here for all your Jersey gifting needs.
