Thoughtful gifting made simple this Christmas (really, really simple!)

Picture the scene… it’s early December, you’re just starting to think about Christmas shopping. That’s fair enough. Whilst we’ve been thinking about it for months (and months), that’s because it is our job (and for the record, we’ve done absolutely nothing regarding our own Christmas shopping situation), early December seems reasonable to us… and then you remember… you live in Jersey. Hopefully you didn’t actually forget you live in Jersey, because that would be a little bit strange, but you know as well as us that spontaneous purchases (especially at the busiest time of the year), whilst thoughtful and lovely in theory, stand the very real chance of not arriving in time…

In the Harriet and Rose household the only recipients of stockings are the kids. Fortunately Father Christmas and his elves sort all that out for us, so we can sit back and relax… but rumours have reached us that quite a lot of grown-ups are also the lucky recipients of a stockings stuffed with goodies too? Either we’re on the naughty list (quite probable), or there are some human elves doing the hard work to make their loved one’s Christmas Day all the more special.

Which is brilliant. Lucky you! Apparently we are hard to buy for. And we are not great at receiving presents. We are good at thinking of them for other people though (it’s our job)… which could be of great interest to you…

We’re assuming that you’ll have the physical stocking all sorted, these things have a habit of being keepsakes that spend most of the year in the loft surrounded by other keepsakes, but at least they get an annual airing (the same of which cannot be said for the 432 boxes of ‘art’ done by the kids over the years that we are too sentimental/lazy to sort through)… but what to do about the contents?

If you are time poor and know you aren’t going to have the time to source all the things you want to (we assume you also put in silly things like a packet or Percy Pigs, or a favourite condiment - we get a jar of marmite every year, though this comes wrapped under the tree), and you can probably sort these out yourself - it’s almost going to be quicker than emailing us through a list of all those things that you know about, but we can help with these if you need us to.

What we’re talking about is the low-mid price thoughtful gifts that involve getting out and about and actually shopping…. and that’s where we come in.

Send us an email at info@harrietandrose.co.uk with the recipient and your budget. Let us know how many ‘stocking fillers’ you’d like for your money, and whether you’d liked them wrapped as well (some stockings come with contents wrapped, others don’t… some of those elves must be sleeping on the job). We’ll do the hard work, deliver them AND give you a list of what we’ve sourced (if wrapped) so that they don’t come as a surprise for you too.

I can hear you now though… why are you telling us this in October? We can still get away with summer-weight wetsuits! What’s wrong with them?

Alas, we’re quite busy. We’re only going to be able to open our stocking-filler-finder service book (the name needs work right?) until 18th November. After that we can still help, but most of the gifts will be available on the website already.

The 18th November is also the final date for getting in touch to use our gift-finder service for larger presents… so if you want to get a personlised print, or some personalised jewellery… or something for the rock-climber, or wine-drinker, or dog-loving loved one, and you haven’t a clue where to start, please make sure you get in touch by the 18th November.

The website itself will OF COURSE be open and taking orders right up until 21st December, so you can leave things until the last minute if you’d like, and still appear thoughtful… but if you want bespoke help or gift-finding you’ve only got a few weeks to get in touch.

We are here to take all the hassle out of thoughtful gifting in Jersey - but only if you get in touch and let us!
