Christmas gifts for teachers that cost the same as a bottle of prosecco (though maybe a good bottle rather than the £5.99 one on offer)
Last time we blogged about teacher gifts we got a bit of online abuse. Abuse is a bit strong, but lots of people suggesting that all a teacher really wanted was a smile and a thank you… I’ve taught a litte bit myself (don’t ask), and what I wanted to reply was ‘have you read the blog? I suggest hand picked flowers from the garden in a jam jar! Or a drawing of your teacher! There are loads of free thoughtful ideas on my blog post!… and yet also… sometimes it’s really lovely to get a present alongside a smile and a thank you (though it is always a surprise, and absolutely NOT expected), but I thought better of it and went a bit defensive.
The thing is, of COURSE it’s optional. I doubt that anyone goes into teaching to stock up on prosecco and chocolates twice a year (it feels quite a big pay off to be honest, I think there’s got to be some actual desire to make a difference to the lives of children), and I am sure there is ZERO expectation of a gift. But should you be so inclined, we’ve got a couple of suggestions - many of which can be purchased for the price of a bottle of prosecco (albeit a decent one)…
First up our Spacemasks - because if your child is exhausted, chances are the teachers are too. Relaxing, and available singularly (£3) or as a pack of five (£15.00) you could just pop one in with a card…
Talking of cards, we’ve got a couple here that might appeal.
And then there’s the thoughtful ‘helping me grow gifts, such as these little pots of seeds or keyrings.
And if in doubt, there’s alcohol. Well, humbugs and candy canes made with real alcohol, or gin infusion bags to give their G&T a festive feel.
