The perfect Christmas gift for... someone (there really is something for everyone)

Very few of our gifts are ‘just for Christmas’. In fact, the only items on our site that are Christmas specific are the cards and some humbugs (bah humbug and all that), but we know that at this time of year you’re looking for something a bit different.

It’s tough to buy gifts with meaning, especially when there are bound to be lots of people in your life that you know, and want to buy for, but just can’t think where to get something for them…

Well that’s where we come in! We want to take all the hassle out of your Christmas shopping, to aim to have that one basket that you can load up, check out, and know it’s all here in the island ready for you to collect or have delivered.

With that in mind, we wanted to write a blog post to tell you all about all the sorts of presents that we have, that we’re pretty confident will save you some time (and definitely some stress and postage).

We have a thing about board games and books. Mostly, that one should be given every Christmas. Whether it’s cerebral, or silly, it’s always lovely to have something to do.

Whilst we know they aren’t the perfect gift for everyone, we know a fair few people to who there is no such thing as too many candles. We’re pretty fussy about the candles that we stock at Harriet and Rose, and all of our candles are soy wax with natural fragrances and great burn times. As well as our range of candles from Jersey based Kota, SevenSeventeen and Paddywax, we also have a few great accessories such as our wick trimmers (the perfect gift for any candle addict they help keep the wicks at the optimum length which lowers smoke and helps burn the wax more evenly), and some beautiful matches that would add to any mantelpiece. You can’t ever go wrong with some jewellery. Ours is all excellent quality from small makers and creators, and trust us when we say you’ll be extremely popular if any of these end up under the tree… quantities are limited, so buy now if you know that someone has pointed them out to you at a pop-up (I saw thesubtle hints… just hope they were picked up on!). This Christmas business is quite the tiring experience. We find our diaries fuller than other months and do silly things like wreath making… on a MONDAY! In what other months does wreath making and a get together with friends on a Monday seem like a really good idea? We did this Monday too… and we wonder why on a Wednesday we’re already feeling like we need a good lie down…

The word pamper fills some of us with horror… we’ve never been terribly good at just lounging around, and even when having a ‘relaxing’ massage (last time was about 1998), we still find our mind racing, and definitely over focus on the little noises that we can’t quite work out…

But pampering can mean lots of things… it can mean taking two minutes a day to write one sentence (in which case our journals are a great gift); it can mean going to bed ten minutes early with one of our self-heating Spacemasks; it might mean a bath with some of our delicious SevenSeventeen bath salts and candle sets. It needn’t take up lots of time, it needn’t cost the earth and involve waffle dressing gowns and disposable slippers… but remember to remind loved ones to have a moment at this time of year, just for themselves… it’s important.
