Stocking-fillers and secret Santa gifts (the good ones)

We have never had a Christmas stocking ourselves… just weren’t done in our house… which, on reflection, is neglect on the part of Father Christmas… Fortunately we married into a family who did and do, so we’re now experts at all things stocking-fillery (yes that’s a word).

The contents of a Christmas stocking is a contentious one. Do you wrap, or leave as is? Are they all just little gifts? Food things (ie sweets)? Or do you go all over-the-top and put a surprise ‘good’ present in there too?

And what of the dreaded Secret Santa? When you get Chris from payroll who you’ve only ever nodded at in the office, and suddenly you’ve got to spend £10 on something that will neither offend nor - in all likelihood - make it home…

Well don’t give it another thought. We’ve got stocking fillers and Secret Santa wrapped up - pun intended.

First up, gin. We all like to make sure that we get our gin and tonic combos correct (we recently discovered that by googling a gin, the best tonic/garnish is there for you, at the touch of a button! Gunpowder gin - for example - is best served with ice, a slice of grapefruit, and simple tonic… you’re welcome). But if you know a gin lover who doesn’t like to step outside their comfort zone, these infusion bags are the perfect way to add some cheer to a gin and tonic (but go for a basic gin and tonic, and let the infusion bags do the talking).

You can buy a selection box or the winter spice infusion bags (£14.99 and £7.99)

If you’re looking for something to raise a smile (and if you’re struggling to find a secret santa gift that safely walks the line between funny and not too insulting), then our range of pencils could be what you’ve been looking for. From lawyers and accountants, through to sea-swimmers, there’s a pencil for everyone. What’s more, as well as raising a smile, they are actually quite useful (and come with a rubber… because everyone makes mistakes).

You can shop our pencils under stationery.

Because we live in an island, there’s lots of lovely gift options that might be useless were you to live in a city surrounded by suburbs, surrounded by some roads and then another city.

Specialist gifts needn’t be expensive, and we’ve got a few stocking fillers perfect for your fellow island-dweller.

From surf wax recycling pots to a tide clock - though we acknowledge that a tide clock might struggle to fit in a stocking - we’ve got a few lovely suggestions for something thoughtful for the beachgoer in your life.

The hardest thing about Christmas (and in fact the whole of December), is that it’s quite exhausting. Whilst you are guaranteed a couple of days off at the end of it - provided that you aren’t designated cook - it’s hard to take that time for yourself. Why not give the gift of relaxation for your Secret Santa or a stocking filler? As the Jersey stockists of Spacemasks, you can give a box of five or a single one. Self-heating masks that will ensure twenty minutes of complete relaxation.

We also have a range of beautiful Elizabeth Scarlett eye-masks too (which come presented in a beautiful pouch). With lavender infused into them, they are perfect for anyone who needs to send the signal that they’re having some ‘them’ time.

A little bit of a budget buster, the SevenSeventeen (so named as the magic time that the kids might fall asleep!), candle and bath salt duo is not only giving the gift of pampering to someone, but will also give to charity, with money from each sale going straight to mental health charities.

We know that sometimes an element of surprise is what makes a stocking filler all the more lovely, so it’s always good to have a surprise up your sleeve, and our selection of earrings might just be the perfect place to go… from semi precious stones to ethically sourced recycled stainless steel jewellery, there is something suitable for everyone. Good things - in this case - always come in small packages!

From l-r Pearl Earrings; wreath earrings; XOXO cufflinks, Poppy Earrings.

Finally, sometimes it’s lovely to give something that is unexpected and thoughtful. And it’s always great to give something that you know will be appreciated and loved. We have spent a very long time sourcing stock that we think is more than just a present. From our collection of keyrings that send a special message, to our creative journals, all within a Secret Santa budget, you can give thoughtfully this Christmas, with next day delivery and collection available across Jersey.
