Sample sale...

We don’t have seasonal sales here at Harriet and Rose, nor do we have discount codes flying about. We also don’t have clearance events at the end of a season. Because we buy in small quantities from small businesses, we either sell out and restock, or we discontinue things. We want you to have confidence when you shop with us that you won’t find things heavily reduced the next week because - to put it frankly - it really annoys us when that happens, so we decided we wouldn’t do it. We won’t be doing things like Black Friday either. But you’d probably already guessed that.

But by virtue of the fact we live on/in a small rock off France, it’s not always possible to see items ‘in the flesh’ before we commit to them for our Jersey based gift shop, reminder and finder service… on the whole when that parcel arrives, it’s exactly what we were hoping for or expecting, but sometimes things arrive and we know they aren’t quite right for the website.

That’s not to say they aren’t lovely - they are - but they just don’t quite fit with the rest of the lines that we’ve got on the website, so we don’t list them… we work really hard to ensure that everything that we put on our website is ‘just right’ for the look of the site and our environmental policies. We also go a very long way to ensure they are accurately described and photographed. But if something isn’t right, we don’t add it to the site, it really is that simple.

So what do we do with them? Do we put them in a box to languish forever? Or do we offer a flash sample sale over on our Facebook page? I think you know the answer…

NOTHING in the sample sale has been listed on the website, nor will it be, so our core value of not having sales remains the same! This is just to make sure that we clear the shelves ready for the new, and don’t keep a box of ‘stuff’ that we’re never going to list… it’s all gorgeous stuff that should be out there being used (and loved!).

From earrings to some Jersey made ceramics, we’ll list everything at a discounted price, and should there be any flaws, we’ll list them too. Photos will be courtesy of our iPhone rather than a pro, so you’ll have to forgive us that.

So here’s how it’s going to work…

We’ll upload the album of sample stock to our Facebook page over the next couple of days, and then at midday on Thursday 21st it’ll go live. To secure an item you just need to comment MINE (and if needed the number that you want). Please also then email us your email for a PayPal invoice to be sent. We will assume that you will collect from town unless you state otherwise, in which case we’ll add postage to your order. We’ll only leave things up for 48hours, and once they’re gone they are gone.

All purchases will be wrapped as standard in our tissue with beautiful stickers, and if appropriate, boxed as well.

Items in the sample sale cannot be returned/refunded.
