There are just a few weeks until Christmas...

So we thought we’d do a series of blogs with some ideas of what you could buy for people.

Here at Harriet and Rose HQ, we’re a fan of thinking about the individual you’re buying for… it sounds obvious, but we’ve seen some quite hilarious purchases made at the very last minute that have been… well entirely inappropriate for the recipient. Our days (many moons ago) at the Greenwich market saw availability as the first priority, and the blind hope that it would be well received….

But we don’t want any panics, and we certainly don’t want any faces that can’t hide their bemusement (Harriet’s Dad had one such face, though when we say bemusement what we really mean is disgust…), and so we’re putting together a few gift guides for your to peruse, and hopefully buy from… right up until the 21st December for Christmas delivery (yes, we know!).

So who are we considering today? Well today we’re thinking about our lovely Mother-in-Law who we do actually like a lot… with a budget up to about £50.00 (but with plenty of gifts priced lower), she’s retired, likes to cook, doesn’t drink a lot - and certainly hasn’t fallen for the latest gin craze - and enjoys her garden… she’s also pretty stylish, and will always be enthusiastic about what she’s given regardless of what it is. She’s also keen to reduce her use of single use plastic… so what should you buy your own version of Kathie*?

*names have not been changed.

You can never go wrong with a nice pair of earrings. Fact. Our Kathie wears gold, so we’d opt for some of our gold dropper earrings (also available in sterling silver). If you’re feeling extra generous some of the gold styles also come with a matching necklace, and, if statement isn’t their thing, these beautiful hand crafted gold stud earrings from Mojo and the Maker will of course also go down a treat. We do have limited stock of each, so get in now to guarantee the most choice.

Kathie also loves things for the home… it’s always warm and welcoming, with comfy sofas, tea bought to you without you even having got to the point of thinking you were thirsty (but when it arrives you realise that of course, you were), and lots of delicious food and smells…. and did we mention cake? Because there is ALWAYS cake.

Though we like the notion of getting something for a person, if their home is where their heart is, then you can’t go far wrong by getting them something lovely for that home… From scented candles, to soap dishes (perfect for anyone who’s trying to go back to bars of soap… and yes, we sell those too), if you opt for the bud vases, just make sure you get some flowers to go in them!

The one thing we would say that Kathie could improve on, is taking a bit more time for herself. Not just worrying about everyone that isn’t her, but her. Even if it’s just for a few moments a day. Anyone who needs to take a bit more time out would appreciate a pack of Spacemasks (also available individually in the run up to Christmas, perfect for stocking fillers!) along with some lovely bath salts for a soak. It’s always lovely to have an excuse to take a little time out.

Is there anyone you’re struggling to buy for? Let us know in the comments below, and maybe in our next blog post we can come up with suggestions (and all names can of course be changed ;-) ).
